Nuoga Siela (nuogasiela.lt) is an anonymous space to let things out. This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't, and why.

Who we are

Nuoga Siela is an independent, non-commercial project. Contact: aldas.kse@gmail.com.

No accounts, no identity

The app never asks for your name, email, phone number, or any other information that could identify you. There are no accounts and no sign-in.

Device identifier

The first time you open the app, your browser generates a random code (crypto.randomUUID()) stored only on your device. The server never sees this original code — it is converted into an irreversible cryptographic hash (SHA-256 with a server-side salt) before it ever reaches the server in usable form. It is not possible to recover your device code from this hash or to link it back to your identity. The hash is used only for technical purposes: counting "I understand you" taps, rate limiting (how many posts you can publish per hour), and showing you your own posts.

What happens to your text

"Burn" — the text never leaves your device. It is processed entirely in the browser and is never sent to any server.
"Release anonymously" (Feed) — the text is sent to the server and shown to others with no author attribution. After 24 hours it is physically deleted from the database — not hidden, deleted.
"Leave as a story" — the text stays visible indefinitely, until you delete it yourself from Settings ("Delete my data").

What we don't collect

IP addresses — server logs only contain the method, path, and response status.
Name, email, phone number, or other contact details.
Tracking or advertising cookies. We use no third-party analytics or ad tools.
Precise geolocation.

Microphone — Scream Room

The Scream Room feature uses the microphone only so you can record and play back a sound for yourself. The recording is kept only in device memory (RAM) via the browser's MediaRecorder API — it is never sent to any server and never written to disk. Leaving the screen or closing the app irreversibly discards it.

Crisis support (SOS)

If your text contains words related to suicide or self-harm, the text is still published — nothing is blocked. You are simply shown additional helpline information (Vilties linija 116 123, Jaunimo linija 8 800 28888 — Lithuanian national helplines). This detection does not store any text content linked to your identity.

Data deletion

The "Delete my data" button in Settings immediately and permanently deletes all of your posted texts (feed and stories) and your device marker from the server.

Sharing with third parties

We do not sell or share any data with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes. The app runs on a single server (Deno Deploy) with no external tracking tools.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we deliberately avoid collecting any personally identifying data from users of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced within the app.
